Thing#4
RSS is an acronym for Really Simple Syndication. Basically it's a real simple program which lets you "subscribe to your favorite websites. When you subscribe to web sites, you can view all of the site's latest news just like you would view your E-mail in box. A cool feature that is in RSS is not only that it can be viewed like your inbox but all the news that has already been read can be deleted or stored away for another day. Another cool feature is that you can share with just about anyone. One way a student could use RSS is to subscribe to the internet site of a news broadcast station like CNN, then once subscribed the student can get feed the latest news and top stories for a project, as "ammo" to debate topics related to one's major, and it could be used also just to make the student more aware of his or her surroundings.

Great explanation. You can use RSS in a variety of ways. Some sites broadcast all of their updated content on a feed, and some let you build your own search and generate a personalized "on the fly" feed (Ebay and Craigslist do this). Library databases are starting use RSS, which is one of the reasons I included it in the things.
